A Pair of Detentions Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

This incident caused the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, as stated by law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

These detentions come after a probe into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was one of the those hurt during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Police arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault close to the location. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding a number of individuals hurt by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.

The attack - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
